Fitness and health notes
At the Golden Temple you cover your head, remove shoes and wash your feet; the marble can be hot in summer, and there is a lot of standing in queues at busy times. The Wagah ceremony is crowded and held in the late afternoon. The Amritsar to Chandigarh drive takes four to five hours.
Accessibility
Wheelchairs and volunteers help at the Golden Temple on request. Wagah seating has steps; ask for a plan that suits your mobility.
