Treatment in India for patients from Kenya
Kenya is among the countries listed by the Press Information Bureau for medical-purpose arrivals in India in 2025. If you are in Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu or Nakuru, this page covers how to prepare a case and plan around follow-up in Kenya.
English works, Swahili is not covered yet
Our coordinators work in English, which most Kenyan patients use for medical paperwork. Swahili support is being arranged but is not available now. Because medical records in Kenya are normally in English, translation is rarely needed.
Shilling and dollar estimates
Written estimates are in US dollars. Kenyan shilling conversion is up to you and your bank; ask about the rate and fees on the day you pay, and whether a deposit is required to confirm the date.
Two and a half hours behind
Kenya is 2 hours 30 minutes behind Indian Standard Time. A late-morning consultation in India falls early in the morning for you, so you may prefer an afternoon slot in India.
Prior treatment history
What helps most is a clear history: when symptoms began, what was tried, which medicines you took and for how long, what the local specialist concluded, and any reactions. Put these dates on one page.
Follow-up at home
Plan the follow-up in Kenya before you travel. Ask your local doctor whether they will review the Indian discharge summary, who will do monitoring tests, and how you would reach them if something changes.
Visa
Visa help is guidance only. The decision is made by the authorities, and requirements depend on your nationality and change over time. Check the current rules on the official Indian visa portal before you book anything. indianvisaonline.gov.in
Questions from Kenya
Do I need to translate my records?
Is Swahili support available?
What does the time difference mean for calls?
What history should I write down?
Who handles follow-up after I return?
How it works: you send records, a partner hospital gives an opinion and a written estimate, and you decide whether to travel. We do not publish a price for your treatment; any figure is a planning estimate until a hospital quotes in writing.
