Who it suits
Couples, families and nature-minded travellers who want green scenery and calm water rather than city sightseeing. Also a good fit for a first stay in India for people who dislike crowds.
Fitness and health notes
Munnar and Thekkady are hill roads with many bends, so people prone to car sickness should say so in advance. Walks are short and mostly on flat paths. Houseboat decks are narrow, with a step to board. Wildlife sightings on the Periyar boat ride or walk are not predictable. Monsoon months bring heavy rain, which changes the routes.
Accessibility
Boarding a houseboat involves a gangplank; hotels in hill towns often have stairs. Share any mobility needs so the quote can choose suitable rooms.
